Inclusion

‘Welcome from Ms Millie Dryden – Interim Assistant Headteacher for Inclusion’

It is my pleasure to welcome you to Inclusion at GEMS Founders School - Dubai, where we believe that every child should feel valued, supported and empowered to succeed.

Our school mission is:

“Together, we inspire creative, mindful learners who value diversity, support one another and strive for success.”

This mission lies at the heart of our approach to inclusion. We recognise that every student brings their own strengths, experiences and individual learning needs. By working in partnership with students, families, staff and external professionals, we aim to ensure that all learners feel a genuine sense of belonging, participate meaningfully in school life and experience academic, social and emotional success.

We welcome students with a wide range of learning profiles, including Students of Determination, students who are gifted and talented, and students who are learning English as an additional language. Our staff are committed to creating inclusive learning environments in which diversity is recognised as a strength and students learn alongside their peers wherever possible. Through adaptive teaching, appropriate adjustments and personalised support, we strive to remove barriers and enable every learner to reach their potential.

Open and honest communication with families is essential to this process. Parents are asked to share full details of their child’s educational history and any identified or emerging needs, including Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and reports from educational psychologists, paediatricians, speech and language therapists, occupational therapists or other specialists. Sharing this information at the earliest opportunity helps us develop a clear understanding of each child’s needs and ensure that appropriate planning, support and resources are in place from the very beginning of their journey with us at GFS. Students are not refused admission because they have special educational needs or disabilities (SEND), and our admissions process follows all relevant KHDA guidance and procedures.

I look forward to working alongside our students, families and wider school community as we continue to build an environment in which every learner is welcomed, understood and given the opportunity to thrive.
