Bassam El Sayed
Teaching and Learning Coach – Arabic/Islamic
Salam, my name is Bassam El Sayed and I joined GEMS Founders School in March 2018. I am very excited to be a part of this amazing community and work with the students, teachers and leaders across the school as the Teaching and Learning Coach for the MOE subjects (Arabic, Islamic and social studies).
I began my teaching career in 2001, acquiring a Bachelor in Arabic Language and Literature with a teaching Diploma from Beirut Arab University and have been working in education for 19 years. I began my career by working for three years in Lebanon as an Arabic teacher and eventually led a very successful languages department. Upon moving to the UAE I worked in 2 reputable British schools in Abu Dhabi for eight years which helped me develop my taste for developing teaching and learning with students and teachers alike. This journey led me to Dubai where I worked for another five years a school that delivered the IB curriculum; further exposing me to a different methodology of learning. It was during my tenure at this school that I became heavily involved with the KHDA’s ‘Living Arabic’ Action Research Programme, developing effective and appropriate educational programmes for schools across Dubai.
I am blessed to be in a profession that provides me the opportunity to shape and nurture young minds by providing an engaging, challenging and enjoyable learning experiences. Working with teachers to ensure the students at GFS receive the very best learning opportunities is key to my role.
In addition to my role at GFS, I am a qualified and trained British Schools Overseas School Inspector. I also continue to provide and deliver professional development workshops for IB (International Baccalaureate) schools.
I look forward to working with everyone in our learning community at GEMS Founders School; students, parents and teachers alike.
