Ian Plant

Head of Secondary

It is a privilege and honour to the be the Head of Secondary at GEMS Founders School, Dubai. I have been involved in the education sector for 19 years and have experience working in schools in England, the United States of America and the UAE. I obtained my BSc. Physical and Health Education degree from the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point, USA in 2004 and soon after relocated to Bingley, West Yorkshire to teach at Beckfoot School. During my time at Beckfoot I taught Physical Education and was responsible for the quality of teaching and learning through my Lead Practitioner role. I then moved back to Wisconsin to begin my MEd. (Curriculum and Leadership focus) as well as teaching undergraduate Physical Education courses at the university. In 2010 I moved to Dubai and have worked in two international schools in leadership roles. In 2015 I completed my MEd. degree from Murdoch University.

I have a distinct passion for sport and accomplished my dream of playing professional football for Hull City in 1993. I love to exercise, specifically running, as well as play golf and tennis in my free time. My wife, Jessie, is from Belgium and currently works as a Physical Education teacher at Fairgreen International School in Dubai. We have one daughter, Reese Annie Plant, who keeps us both very busy and entertained outside of school hours. I am currently completing my NPQH.

I am delighted with the developments in the Secondary School over the past two years and with high expectations, hard work, determination and focus I am convinced that we will continue to go from strength to strength.
